The Andre Drummond Conundrum

That’s the amount of money on the final year of Andre Drummond’s 5-year max contract that was signed back in July 15th, 2016. A controversial contract at the time, despite the Pistons making their first play-off appearance since the infamous ‘08-’09 season; a season which saw the end of the Pistons early 2000s dynasty in the East. At that time the Pistons’ fans were hopeful for the future, after acquiring a young wing from Orlando in Tobias Harris to pair with Drummond and Point-Guard-of-the-Future Reggie Jackson. Sure, they had been swept by the Cavs, but it was a competitive sweep against the eventual NBA champions.
